What we're really talking about is whether or not an outcome is unpredictable in a way that's sufficient for the needs of the game. You tell me: can you predict what power ups you're going to get in the heat of the moment? I always have to binge watch shows with long arcs because I want complete stories, and refuse to start until there is one. I'm one of those assholes that's killing television by not watching a show until after it's finished. I made a compromise for The Walking Dead in that I will get caught up every two or three years, as long as the season finale has a reasonable wrap-up. I'll permit a degree of what movies call "sequel hooks", but I won't get caught up on TWD unless and until all that remains is a hook. I had to make that compromise because TWD has run for so fucking long that it wasn't reasonable to wait until it finished. --- This album is not available to the public. I did have one teacher outright say his course load was deliberately designed to be excessive. The smart kids eventually just took the hit to their grades and stopped doing his assignments. It's got a fairly linear beads-on-string structure as opposed to the more freeform exploration generally found in Souls games. It's got loads of cut scenes. If you're someone that appreciates Souls games for taking a mostly hands off approach to the story with almost zero non-interactive sequences, Code Vein isn't that. So when you put all that together, it's not really fair to compare it to Dark Souls. It's obviously influenced by Dark Souls in its mechanics, but it's got a lot going on that's pretty far removed as well. It does have waifus. --- This album is not available to the public. I've tried twice now to condense this post, and maybe I got it this time, but holy shit was that an awful period. Between having to come to terms with how everything I worked toward in the 00s was now off the menu by 2010, having my industry contacts, career prospects, and finances completely rebooted, dealing with being in an abusive relationship that I couldn't afford to leave, one that caused me years of misery, one whose instability threatened to leave me homeless, penniless, and stranded in an unfamiliar city with no way home, the sudden loss of a dear loved one, someone who'd supported me in every sense (morally, emotionally, financially), getting out of that abusive situation and into another stressful living arrangement with too many characteristics similar to the previous abusive one, dealing with legal problems both civil and criminal, and both total BS, having to support my SO through two different long term health crises, both of which had end-of-life implications in either a literal or practical sense...between all that, I nearly fucking killed myself. By around 2017 I was just done. Not even depressed, just done. And that is the short version. It wasn't really until 2018 that things even remotely started moving again, and even that overlapped somewhat with the time period I was looking after my SO.
